8 Days of Tech: Empowering Educators Through Technology
Our Teacher Professional Development Program, "8 Days of Tech," hosted by Octotel and led by Mr. S. Grant (Edventures) was a groundbreaking initiative aimed at equipping educators with essential digital skills.
Teachers engaged in hands-on learning experiences which focused on Canva for Education, Google for Education, and Chrome OS. These tools are revolutionizing modern classrooms by enhancing lesson planning, fostering student engagement, and streamlining administrative tasks.
Canva: Teachers learned how to create visually engaging lesson materials, presentations, and classroom resources.
Google for Education: Training sessions covered tools like Google Classroom, Docs, Slides, and Drive to promote collaborative and efficient learning environments.
Chrome OS: Educators explored the benefits of Chrome-powered devices in education, ensuring seamless integration with digital teaching methods.
This initiative not only enhanced digital literacy but also empowered teachers to create more interactive, engaging, and effective learning experiences for their students. A huge thank you to Octotel, and Mr. S. Grant for their dedication to advancing education through technology!
As part of Octotel’s "8 Days of Tech," initiative, Anelisa Masebe hosted a dynamic and engaging Code Club workshop, bringing together both teachers and learners for an exciting hands-on coding experience. The workshop aimed to empower educators with the tools and knowledge to integrate coding into their classrooms while sparking curiosity and enthusiasm among learners.
Anelisa’s expertise and passion for digital education were evident throughout the session, as she guided participants through interactive coding exercises designed to build problem-solving skills and computational thinking. Learners eagerly engaged with the material, demonstrating creativity and collaboration as they tackled coding challenges. Teachers also expressed their appreciation for the practical insights shared, highlighting how the workshop gave them confidence to incorporate coding into their lesson plans.
The workshop received overwhelmingly positive feedback from both educators and students. Teachers commended the session for its accessible approach to coding, emphasizing how the hands-on activities made the subject approachable even for those with little prior experience. Learners left feeling inspired and motivated, with many expressing excitement about continuing their coding journey beyond the workshop.
Octotel’s 8 Days of Tech continues to make a meaningful impact by fostering digital literacy and innovation. Anelisa Masebe’s contribution to this initiative was a testament to the power of technology education in shaping the future of young minds.
